چکیده

XRF (X-ray fluorescence analysis) has been applied as the method for analysis of plant samples, but not in its full potential. This would be highly suitable monitoring programs and screening studies. A simple sample preparation procedure makes this technique time cost-effective, although absence adequate calibration standards some analyzed matrices can a significant limiting factor. Nevertheless, obstacle overcome by development so-called “standardless method” approach. It is important to explore possibilities limitations such an materials. The accuracy dependent on physical characteristics sample, which significantly affected procedure. Variations 3 crucial parameters: mass samples (from 1 5 g), binder ratio 0 25% wax), pressing pressure 10 25 t) were tested needles obtained from two widespread conifer species: Pinus nigra Abies alba. For most elements, correlation between concentration change was statistically significant, while there no pellet pressure. both types needles, estimated systematic error always higher than random error. difference errors among with different wax content mass, variation did introduce any On average inflated value 18 13% pine fir needle (respectively), introduced lesser extent, it 11% 10% samples. pelletizing results only 3.9% needles.

Decomposition of Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Spectra

Line shapes of atomic lines and soft x-ray emission bands measured with a wavelength dispersive spectrometer (WDS) with the Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA) are reviewed. Least square fitting to pseudo-Voigt profiles of the digitally measured spectra are used to account for the presence of non-diagram features (high and low energy satellites) and instrumental induced distortions. The effect...

Optimization of Wavelength Dispersive X-Ray Spectrometry Analysis Conditions

In setting up the conditions for quantitative wavelength-dispersive electron microprobe analysis a number of parameters have to be defined for each element, namely accelerating voltage, beam current, and (for each element) x-ray line, spectrometer crystal, pulse-height analyser settings, background offsets, and counting times for peak and background. The choices made affect both the reliability...

Quantitative Analysis by Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence by the Transmission Method Applied to Geological Samples

Three certified samples of different matrices (Soil-5, SL-1/IAEA and SARM-4/SABS) were quantitatively analysed by energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence with radioisotopic excitation. The observed errors were about 10-20% for the majority of the elements and less than 10% for Fe and Zn in the Soil-5, Mn in SL-1, and Ti, Fe and Zn in SARM-4 samples. Annular radioactive sources of Fe-55 and Cd-109 ...

Wavelength-dispersive spectrometer for X-ray microfluorescence analysis at the X-ray microscopy beamline ID21 (ESRF)

The development of a wavelength-dispersive spectrometer for microfluorescence analysis at the X-ray Microscopy ID21 beamline of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is reported. The spectrometer is based on a polycapillary optic for X-ray fluorescence collection and is operated in a flat-crystal geometry. The design considerations as well as operation characteristics of the spectr...
